What Near-Death Experiences Teach Us About Life, Love, and the Soul
Understanding the nature of spiritual encounters in near-death experiencers is made manifest by the profound attitudinal shifts they exhibit as they integrate the varied aftereffects of their incredible journeys. Learning to cope with the wondrous and oft-times confusing awareness that the soul apparently survives immense physical and psychological trauma intact and with beautiful life-changing lessons, leaves the survivor and his/her worldview, fundamentally altered.
Perceived otherworldly protection from guardian spirits and celestial energies, as most have encountered, leaves an imprint whose marker becomes recognizable by the vastly increased perspective regarding the purpose and connectivity of our lives, and our place in the universe.
Being in the presence of a compassionate, universally loving and comforting energy which guides, informs and expands our consciousness to include all aspects of our behavior and its impact on others, leaves the near-death experiencer filled with gratitude and hope, with deep faith and removes the fear of death.
Working through the complexity and initial ineffability of the experience has become more accepted with ample resources, due to the relatability and growing belief of the greater culture and its discussions of what was previously disavowed. As ubiquitous as the topic of “whether consciousness does indeed survive physical death” has become, in practice and personally, it is still a mind-bending, soulful search to truly grasp the enormity of these glimpses of the Divine.
The implications of bodily death and soul survival, with transcendent awareness, as substantiated by quantum physics, offer restorative balance to the role of the individual within the collective.
Many experiencers of near-death phenomena have stated that at the moment of complete and utter bodily surrender, the nurturance and safety of the Divine energies they encounter as agents of transformation are available to all if we can stay open to receiving these transpersonal nudges.
Learning to recognize the signs and often energetic gifts the NDErs have received becomes a lifelong challenge to incorporate what they have gleaned from beyond the veil and to put these ideas and acts in service of humanity at large. NDErs “proof” of an afterlife is how gloriously, and transformatively they have gone on to embrace their current bodily incarnation.
These enlightening encounters have much to teach about our interconnectedness and how the benefit (and hardship) of the individual is interwoven with the life experience of all people. NDers are filled with a mission to educate and further the discussions around survival and consciousness, in order to propel humankind forward and provide assurance that ultimate hope and healing are possible.
The journey to understanding and acceptance can often take decades of struggle and anxiety, fear and depression. What seems to keep them moving forward in their quest to process their unique journeys is a deeply felt sense that things were “realer than real” and that love and connection are the meaning of life.
When people are despairing and have lost their way, truly grasping that something caring and unseen surrounds us at all times and is also deeply within us, is the exquisitely beautiful gift that NDErs have brought to all. As they have searched and grappled with their personal and expanded truth, they enlighten all of us.
We are exceedingly grateful for their profound courage to dive deeply into and immerse themselves into their experiences to enrich all of us. Our endless gratitude goes to them, the pilgrims in this foreign territory, learning the new language and terrain of non-local consciousness, facing discrimination and skepticism but deciding that the truth far outweighs the risk of exposure. We should all consider ourselves immensely blessed that those who have survived bodily death and have lived to tell about it, actually do.
